     Outlook Express Tutorial

The path to your Outlook Express setup is from the Toolbar at the top of the window, then: Tools - Accounts - Add - Mail. Outlook will then begin the Wizard as shown here. Click Here to view.

To retrieve your mail from a mailbox with us, it is assumed that you have already set up the mailbox name at the mail administration page. (We will initially set up your mailbox. You are free to make changes at the administration area) Your mailbox must be set up before you can retrieve any mail. You cannot check a mailbox that forwards mail or that is an Alias. Click the above link for viewing set up of Outlook Express. Microsoft Outlook is basically the same setup.

    Managing Your Mail Messages

Since your mailbox has a size limit, you can't store your mail forever without eventually filling up the storage space. Once your mailbox has reached capacity, any new mail will be rejected from the sender and returned as an "Over Quota Mailbox". To correctly manage your mail, we suggest that you always strip the mail after checking your mailbox. Click Here for another Flash Movie that demonstrates how to set up this feature using Outlook Express. Outlook is similar. If you feel you must store the mail on the server for some period of time, there are two additional options, shown below, which will help you to keep your mailbox manageable without getting over capacity.
    1. Un-checking "Leave Mail on Server" - downloads all mail to your local workstation for complete management. This is the most efficient management for your mailbox as it deletes all mail from the server after downloading to your workstation, leaving the mailbox clean.
    2. Checking "Leave Mail on Server" with options: Remove from server after X days. Where X is the amount of days before Outlook will strip the messages from the server.
    3. Remove from Server when Unwanted mail is deleted from the "Deleted Items" folder on your local workstation.
If you receive a large amount of mail, we always recommend option #1
Remember, once you reach the mailbox capacity limit, all new mail will be rejected.

     Administering Your Mailbox

    Getting Started

To enter your mail administration Click this link. type in your-user-name@derecktor-florida.com - In the password field, type your password. Do not check the System Admin Box or the Low Speed Connection box. Click the Submit button to enter the administrative window. Follow this link to your mail Control Panel. For easy access, bookmark the mail admin page in your browser.

Here you may change your password as well as manage your fowards, auto responders and mailbox aliases.

    Managing your Forwards

You can send your messages to up to 6 forwarding addresses. When entering a forwarding address, you must enter the full e-mail address of the forward. From this window, you can also delete a forwarding address that you no longer want. We do not guarantee the delivery to any forwarding address. Delivery will depend on the validity of the forwarding e-mail address and also the ISP of the address. We use Anti-Spam database lookups on all mail and some ISP's may be on these lists. We have no control over these factors. You are allowed up to 6 forwarding addresses under each mailbox. Click Here to view Flash movie on this feature.

You cannot check a forwarding or alias mailbox from your mail client or Webmail. The mailbox must be set to store mail - not forward to check the mailbox with a mail client such as Outlook or Eudora.

Be sure to click "Apply Box Changes" when done.

    Setting Up Your Auto Responder

You can set up an Auto Responder for your mailboxes by clicking on the Responder Setup button. This message will be sent to every e-mail address of the sender of every message you get for that mailbox. This feature would normally only be used for an un-attended mailbox that you wouldn't normally use for continuing mail correspondence during everyday business or communication with friends or relatives.

Enter the message Subject then the Text of the message up to 255 characters. Do not enter any HTLM tags - Text only.

Be sure to click the "Apply Box Changes" when done.

Click Here for Flash movie on this feature.

    Setting Up Your Alias Names

An alias name is just another name someone can use to send mail to a mailbox. john@yourdomain.com may be the mailbox name, but you could also have johnsmith. If using an alias, you must use the following rule: When entering an alias name, do not enter the complete mailto address. An alias for john@domain.com would be entered in the alias management as "johnsmith" (or whatever your alias may be). Up to 6 aliases may be entered for any mailbox name. When creating an alias name, do not use spaces. john smith would be incorrect where johnsmith is correct. All characters must be linked. Click Here to view he Flash movie on this subject.
